Between August 16-18 2013, hundreds of Nso people from around the world met in the English West Midlands town of Coventry for their annual convention.
The 3 day get together was hosted by Banin Uk (Banin is lamnso word for togetherness or unity) and could be described as the truly first diaspora Nso convention because delegates came from across the world.
There was a lot of fun and pageantry, with loads of song and dance. Some of the speakers included Mformi Stephen Njodzeka, President of Nso Development Association (NSODA). Dr Eugene Kongnyuy, chief technical advisor, maternal and new-born health, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in DR Congo and Professor Ian Fowler, historian and anthropologist from Oxford University. He has written extensively about Nso culture and tradition.
