Samuel Eto’o to Meet President Biya. His supposed resignation top on agenda

We are getting reports from Cameroon that Chelsea attacker and (former) Captain of the Indomitable Lions Samuel Eto’o Fils will meet president Paul Biya at Unity Palace as early as tomorrow Thursday September 12  2013 following his shocking but still unconfirmed retirement from international football.

   Iroko Africa learnt Unity palace protocol contacted Samuel Eto’o Fils to meet president Biya so he  gets further clarification on claims he will no longer play for the  Lions following last Sunday’s crucial game against the Libyan national team. Cameroon edged Libya 1-0 to pick the last remaining African ticket for round II qualifying matches  for next year’s Brazil world cup

Samuel Eto’o Fils. End of the road?

Eto’o Fils reported retirement from international football is all the more a mystery because he has not made any official declaration to that effect. Lions Coach Volke Finke is as confused as everyone else because Eto’o has not told him anything though he is still in Cameroon following the match against Libya

“Samuel Eto’o is a great player and it is better that he should be the one to explain things. He is the one who knows his decision” he told BBC Sports online.

Meanwhile, there has been mixed reactions after a certain Faboulos Patrice Faboulos in Mvomeka placed an online petition addressed to the Presidency, Fecafoot officials and  Samuel Eto’o Fils asking him to change his mind and play again for the Indomitale Lions. You can see the petition here

“With all he has achieved for the team, we are by this petition inviting all lovers of football, fans of Samuel Eto’o Fils, friends of Cameroon to say no to the decision of the striker. Cameroon needs you and your services” the petition read.

While some people supported the petition, some said it was time Eto’o retired from the team to give younger players a chance to shine too.

Eto’o Fils reportedly had problems with coach Volke Finke over selection of the team but has consistently criticized the “amateurish” way the Indomitable Lions, once the most feared team in Africa is being managed. Corruption is rife, there has practically been no investment in football infrastructure in the country while there is no effort to encourage or discourage new talent to replace the aging team.

It should be noted Eto’o Fils who has played of some of the biggest clubs on earth including Barcelona, Inter Milan and now Chelsea has never had any problem with officials of those teams so he must be making a point each time he quarrels with either team mates or fecafoot officials
