When other musicians start playing covers of your song, a musician knows his song has created a huge impact.
Stanley Enow, Cameroonian musical revelation of 2013 is now one of the most talked about singers in the country today, not because he has sold a string of successful albums but because of one very amusing but trendy sound that is very different from the music that is popular in Cameroon. The title of the only single he has released is “hein pere” and he is now a household name because of that one song.
Enow is now so well-known authorities of Fecafoot, the football governing body chose him to play during half time on September 8 2013 during the crucial world cup qualifying match against the Libyan national team. He did not disappoint as the 40.000 man crowd repeated every single line of his song “hein pere”.
Reacting to the song, budding soul musician Olgha (who has also released a single “You” ) says “the song is popular because he’s got a catch phrase “hein pere”. Even babies cant stop saying it here. Its just s funky phrase everyone loves”.
This could partly explain the huge popularity of the song across the country
The video for the song is also professionally shot which could also account for the popularity of the song.
