Students of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) yesterday November 13, 2013 joined nationwide demonstrations against the planned closure of the University of London students Union (ULU).
In May this year, the University of London announced it will close the Union by August 2014 and the students believe this is a move to stifle students activism in London and eventually across the country.
The Union has been active for years and campaigns for various issues affecting the thousands of students who attend the 18 universities in London, capital city of England. The issues include rents, decent working conditions for university workers (some of whom are students) and their right as residents of the most populated city in the EU (8 million people) and one of the most expensive cities on earth.
Herewith some pictures of the SOAS demonstrations that happened under the watchful eyes of the metropolitan police.
