The Zambian contestant to the just ended Big Brother Africa (BBA 8) reality TV show is back home in Lusaka and reaping the fruits of her appearance, as her last music video receives decent reviews on radio and TV. Promoters of Cleo, 23, made sure they released her new music video while she was in the house to get as much publicity as they possibly could and their gamble appears to have paid off. Cleo is now a celebrity at home thanks largely to her appearance on BBA.
On Sunday, August 25th during the grande finale of BBA 8, Cleo came second to the overall winner Dillish from Namibia who walked home with the $300.000 prize money.
Millions of viewers from across the continent watched the nerve biting finale to a reality TV show that captivated viewers for three long months.
This year’s show was themed The Chase and had 2 contestants each from Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
During the finals, Nigeria’s Beverly and Melvin were quickly voted off leaving Cleo and Dillish to battle for the final position. The night proved once and for all that Africa is all about girl power!
Cleo aka “Ice Queen” is an uprising rapper who started off her chase in the house and quickly won the hearts of millions of viewers especially as they watched her love affair blossom with Hakeem, one of the representatives from Zimbabwe.
When the show began, Cleo described herself as “friendly, loud, caring, blatant and loyal”, citing her favourite qualities as her patience, tact, obedience, domestication, humility and respect. She said she disliked backstabbers, liars, immaturity and disrespect and promised viewers “a lot of realness, a bit of comedy, a lot of singing and rapping, and a lot of ME to the fullest”. She delivered on her promises which is not surprising she got to the finals.
Talia, Zambia’s representative in BB7 last year was among the top 5. (Another Zambian contestant Cherise Makubale won the first ever BBA season 1.)
Cleo is a single mother with one daughter.
